Join us for an Open House!
Wyoming Seminary will hold an Open House on Saturday, October 21. Meet our new Head of School, tour our campuses, and talk with faculty and current students.
“It was eye-opening for me to see how many classes there are available at Sem. You can take all of these cool courses like ornithology and Irish literature. It's so great to be opened up to that kind of curriculum.” Shelby Monk '17
Excellence has been a hallmark of a Wyoming Seminary education since 1844. Our flexible curriculum, which includes 22 AP (Advanced Placement) courses, exceeds college requirements and makes us stand out from other independent schools across the state and the nation.
Our students can discover their talents and explore their passions through our Academic Concentrations. Designed to allow the student to chart a tailored course of study, students in these integrated programs choose to engage in focused pursuit of both academic and experiential education with faculty support.
An 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio allows teachers to know your student very well. You will see report cards at Sem, but you will also receive written, personalized comments from teachers who know your student individually. Many of our teachers and their families are a 24-hour-a-day presence as over two-thirds of them live on or near campus.
As a school with boarding and day students, Sem offers students significant advantages associated with boarding schools. These advantages include greater ethnic and cultural diversity, more attention to character building and community life, and better preparation for college and career.
Preparation for college is Wyoming Seminary's primary mission, and Sem's comprehensive college counseling program is designed to help students find the college or university that is right for them. Sem's team of college counselors begins meeting with students in tenth grade, getting to know them well as they embark on this highly personalized journey together. Virtually all graduates pursue their education in four-year programs; 85.8% of 2015 graduates went on to the top three tiers of selectivity based on Barron’s Profiles of American Colleges.
Many of Wyoming Seminary's talented students and teachers recently participated in a series of videos. Each video focuses on a different academic department at the Upper School, offering an inside look into the people, innovative curriculum and teaching styles that allow these programs to flourish.
